The environmental remediation of dioxin contamination at Da Nang airport project has a total cost of more than 43 million USD, of which the U.S government sponsors non-refundable 41 million USD, Vietnam reciprocates 35 billion.
This project was started not only to open the opportunities to thoroughly treat dioxin at Da Nang airport, but also create more bonds to strengthen the friendship between the two countries. The success of the project is also the premise for the two governments to treat together the dioxin pollution at six other airports in the country.
Starting from August 2012, The environmental remediation of dioxin contamination at Da Nang airport project sponsored by USAID is a milestone in the bilateral relationship and help to improve the environment for the people.
Project has been processed to over than 90.000 m3 soil, sediment, by reducing heat absorption method and isolating safe 50,000 m3 soil, sediment with low concentration dioxin.
On November 7th, Vice Minister of Minstry of Defense Nguyen Chi Vinh and US Ambassador in Vietnam Daniel J. Kritenbrink witnessed the signing of the agreement to hand over 13.7 hectares of clean land treated at Da Nang International Airport for Ministry of Transport.
The ceremony also marks the completion of a $ 110 million project funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Ministry of Defense coordinated implementation.
